AberMUD via newtOS

Classic multiplayer dungeon. This page explains how to enter the world, what to type first, and how to get back out safely.

Version AberMUD V 5.30.0 with blizzard.uni

Web Sign in at newt.chat and type ABERMUD.

SSH First sign-in: ssh login@ssh.newt.chat

Exit Type QUIT in game, or use Ctrl+] to close the live bridge.

What AberMUD Is

AberMUD is a shared text adventure world. You move room to room, inspect objects, talk to other players, and slowly learn the map through repeated visits.

In newtOS, your account is mapped to a stable AberMUD persona so you can come back to the same character over time.

A Brief History

Created in the late 1980s at Aberystwyth on a Honeywell L66 mainframe.
Grew out of the Honeyboard talker culture on the UK JANET network.
Ported from B to C, spread across Unix, and influenced later MUD families.
The Blizzard world blends fantasy with British hacker culture, TV references, and black humour.

This newtOS release currently runs AberMUD V 5.30.0 with the blizzard.uni world.

How To Play

Start with LOOK and EXITS. Move one room at a time, watch what NPCs say, and keep an eye on anything that looks like a weapon, door, or object you can carry. If you see other players, try SAY hello.

AberMUD is not menu-driven. It rewards curiosity, attention, and repetition. Getting slightly lost is part of the game.
